Project Description

SCAD collaborated with Volvo Cars USA to research and develop stories using sensors and car intelligence to explore interesting ways to produce immersive and innovative in-cabin experiences within their new Volvo XC60 fully electric vehicle.

Duration: 10 Weeks

Role: UI Designer + Storyteller

Managers: Mitch Gettleman, Aneurin Warburton

Our Task

15 students with diverse backgrounds in UX, sound design, dramatic writing, interaction design, Game development, and industrial design were tasked to step into the role of storytellers. Volvo wanted to know extremely high level and creative ways they could implement sound in the Volvo XC60, so our job was to ideate on innovative use-cases they could utilize to push the sound experience.

<aside> 🙋‍♂️ What did I do exactly?

I handled all in-cabin UI design and interactions for this project. This included creating site maps, user journeys, wireframes, interactive interfaces, and all visual design decisions. I also had a hand in story ideation, pitching concepts for use-cases and helping the video team visualize our final video.
